The Rise of Craft Beer

The Rise of Craft Beer

There has never been a better time to take an interest in beer in Germany. For many decades, industrial brewers have flooded this once-great beer nation with factory-made German Pils.

However, this is changing. Many innovative brewers are taking their lead from abroad, where the Craft Beer movement has seen an explosion in beer diversity. New styles are growing in popularity here, especially hoppy IPAs and malty-luxurious porters and stouts.

The good news for Germany is that alongside the discovery of foreign styles, forgotten and almost extinct domestic beer styles are now being rediscovered, so it can become a great brewing nation once again.

Discover Beer Variety

There is no such thing as a 'normal' beer. Even the pils is a relatively modern style. Many new beer enthusiasts discover the wide variety of beers available through the strongly hopped IPA and extremely malty imperial stouts.

In our introductory tastings, we focus on the brewers and brewing techniques that go into making these beer styles that are relatively new to Germany, with examples brewed locally and imported international craft brewers.

(Re)discover German Styles

From Märzen to Hefeweizen, Kölsch to Leipziger Gose, Düsseldorfer Alt to Berliner Weisse, Rauchbier to Eisbock - Germany has a wonderful brewing tradition that goes back over a thousand years.

This tradition has largely been lost, but is starting to be rediscovered. It's time to learn more about German's brewing heritage and what makes each style unique.
